Head of Department: Sandi Poteko, MD, Urology Specialist
The Department of Urology provides medical care for a population of up to 300,000.
We treat all urologic conditions. Currently, the Department of Urology combines two specialised outpatient offices, a hospital ward, two operating rooms for transurethral procedures and open surgeries, a urodynamic laboratory and an erectile dysfunction outpatient clinic. In addition, we also take part in x-ray diagnostic procedures.
We successfully treat patients with prostate cancer (radical prostatectomy), patients with kidney cancer (radical nephrectomy) and patients with cancer of the bladder (radical cystectomy). In 2010, we introduced robotic assisted surgery, which allows us to perform prostatectomy and operations on upper urinary tract. We also perform minimally invasive operative treatment techniques: transurethral resection of the prostate, tumours of the bladder, endoscopic removal of stones from the urinary tract, treatment of urinary incontinence and operative procedures on the urethra. We offer complete care to patients with cancer of the bladder (operative treatment, cytostatic intravesical instillation, immunotherapy with BCG). At the urology office, we perform a complete diagnostic procedure for urologic health issues.
We treat approximately 2,000 patients annually and perform approximately 1,200 operations and 16,000 outpatient examinations.
The Department’s capacities include 34 beds for adults and 4 beds for children at the Department of Pediatric Surgery.
The Urology Outpatient Clinic carries out the entire diagnostics procedure of urologic diseases:
